Panbang Youth Cooperative, Zhemgang

Panbang Youth Cooperative was founded in 2019 by five childhood friends after graduating. They cooperative has grown over the years, and currently has 17 youth members from Pangbang in Zhemgang. The Panbang Youth Cooperative practices integrated farming, they cultivate fruits and vegetables while rising livestock. Moreover, they have a commercial nursey where they sell fruit tree seedlings.
The cooperative revived 14 acres of fallow land from the Royal Government of Bhutan and increase hence local food production in Panbang. Since 2023, the farm is local organic (LOAS) certified.
The Panbang Youth Cooperative is currently marketing their produce in the local market, and in nearby schools. In addition, the group has their own sales outlet in Pangbang. However, access to premium markets for their organic produce has been a major challenge. In 2024, Bhutan Blossoms partnered with the Panbang Youth Cooperative for sourcing 1/2 ton of organic pineapples and soyabeans based on guaranteed premium prices.
